Big start to Beaver Island Season

Team SmithFly for the past three seasons, made a run up to Beaver Island for the insane flats style carp fishing. This year team SmithFly might not be able to make it, which is unfortunate because clearly the big fish up there just keep getting bigger. We will miss that part of our summer for sure. Unless of course we can find a couple days to sneak away.
There's a nice report over on Third Coast Fly from guide Kevin, about Austin's first fish of the season, they just keep getting bigger.
Below is a video of Garrett Smith at 9 years old putting the wood to a mid-sized carp. He landed one closer to 28 pounds earlier that day. Fly fishing for carp can be frustrating and incredibly difficult but also rewarding when everything goes right.
